## Overview

Linkdien is a collaborative software project developed using an Agile approach. The team works in short iterations, delivers small increments of functionality, and continuously improves the product through feedback and review.

## Programming Tools and Their Purpose

| Tool or technology | Purpose |
|---|---|
| **Next.js** | Builds the web application, pages, layouts, and server-side functionality. |
| **React** | Creates reusable and interactive user interface components. |
| **TypeScript** | Adds static typing to JavaScript and helps prevent programming errors. |
| **Tailwind CSS** | Provides utility classes for building a consistent and responsive interface. |
| **shadcn/ui** | Supplies reusable interface components and accessible UI patterns. |
| **Node.js** | Runs the JavaScript and TypeScript tooling and server-side processes. |
| **npm** | Installs project dependencies and runs development, testing, linting, and build scripts. |
| **Supabase** | Provides PostgreSQL database services, authentication, row-level security, and backend functionality. |
| **PostgreSQL** | Stores and manages application data in a relational database. |
| **Git** | Tracks source-code changes and supports version control. |
| **GitHub** | Hosts the repository and supports collaboration through branches, pull requests, issues, and code reviews. |
| **Vitest** | Runs automated unit and integration tests. |
| **ESLint** | Detects code-quality and style problems before code is merged. |
| **Docker** | Supports reproducible self-hosted development and deployment environments. |
| **Vercel** | Provides the primary hosting and deployment platform for the Next.js application. |

## Tool Selection Principles

The project uses tools that support:

- Fast web application development.
- Type-safe and maintainable code.
- Reusable and accessible user interfaces.
- Secure multi-tenant data access.
- Automated testing and code-quality checks.
- Collaborative source-code management.
- Reliable deployment and reproducible environments.

## Agile Collaboration Model

### Roles

The team may use the following responsibilities during a sprint:

- **Product owner:** Prioritizes requirements and clarifies business value.
- **Scrum master or Agile facilitator:** Helps the team follow the process and removes blockers.
- **Developers:** Design, implement, test, and maintain the solution.
- **Reviewers:** Check code quality, security, usability, and compliance before merging.
- **Stakeholders:** Provide feedback and validate delivered functionality.

One person can have more than one responsibility in a small team.

### Work Process

1. **Backlog preparation**
   - Collect ideas, defects, technical improvements, and user requirements.
   - Describe each item with a clear objective and acceptance criteria.
   - Prioritize items according to value, risk, and dependencies.

2. **Sprint planning**
   - Select a realistic set of backlog items for the sprint.
   - Break larger items into small, testable tasks.
   - Agree on the sprint goal and definition of done.

3. **Implementation**
   - Create a separate Git branch for each feature or bug fix.
   - Make small, focused commits.
   - Add or update tests with the implementation.
   - Run linting and relevant tests locally.

4. **Daily collaboration**
   - Share progress, the next planned task, and any blockers.
   - Coordinate work when tasks affect shared files, APIs, database schemas, or UI components.
   - Resolve questions early instead of making assumptions.

5. **Code review**
   - Open a pull request when the work is ready.
   - Explain the purpose, implementation, testing, and any migration or deployment considerations.
   - Require review before merging.
   - Address feedback with follow-up commits rather than unrelated changes.

6. **Sprint review**
   - Demonstrate completed functionality to stakeholders.
   - Confirm that acceptance criteria have been met.
   - Collect feedback and convert new requests into backlog items.

7. **Retrospective**
   - Discuss what went well, what caused problems, and what should change.
   - Select a small number of concrete improvements for the next sprint.

## Definition of Done

A backlog item is considered done when:

- The agreed functionality is implemented.
- Acceptance criteria are satisfied.
- Relevant automated tests pass.
- Linting and type checking pass.
- Security and authorization requirements are reviewed.
- Required documentation and translations are updated.
- The change has been reviewed and merged through a pull request.
- The feature is deployed or otherwise made available for validation when appropriate.

## Collaboration Practices

- Use GitHub Issues for requirements, bugs, and technical tasks.
- Use pull requests for all meaningful code changes.
- Keep pull requests small enough to review efficiently.
- Link pull requests to the related issue.
- Use clear, descriptive branch names and commit messages.
- Communicate breaking changes before implementation.
- Document important technical decisions.
- Avoid committing secrets, production credentials, or sensitive customer data.
- Coordinate database migrations with application changes.
- Prefer constructive, specific, and respectful code-review feedback.

## Example Sprint Goal

> Enable users to create, review, and safely manage a complete Linkdien workflow with a responsive interface, validated data, automated tests, and reviewed deployment changes.

## Conclusion

Linkdien combines modern web development tools with Agile collaboration. The technology stack supports maintainable and secure software, while the Agile process helps the team deliver value incrementally, respond to feedback, and improve the project continuously.
